Full Screen Resolution

Ok I have not used Sage for a long time now, but would like to try it now that they support HD cards. I just got a ATI HD card and have a question about resolution. I normally have my desktop set to 856x480. Is that resolution that Sage will be in full screen mode? If so, do I need to change my computer resolution every time I use Sage to 720p or 1080i? I am not concerned with resolution in the windowed mode, but in full screen I want it at 720 or 1080.

Thanks,
Chad

Sage will use the desktop resolution in full screen mode, so yes it will use your 856x480.

It will play video fine at 856x480, but if you want full 1080i/720p resolution, you will have to change it. However it sounds like you've got a 856x480, fixed-pixel display, in which case I would recommend just leaving it at that all the time.

I have a Sony 70" rear LCD projection. I used to use a AccessDTV and I think it would change the resolution in full screen mode because I had my monitor conected to the tuner card instead of the video card. I am using powerstrip, so I might be able to just make a hotkey with it, girder and my remote.

Thanks,
Chad

Why aren't you running 1366x768?

That actually works well! I guess I was thinking that scaling the image from 1080 would affect the picture quality. It really looked great at my desktop resolution, but I just want the best picture I can get. Not that it really matter, my eyes are not that great and that is why I have the large desktop resolution :-) I have been thinking about using 1366x768 for my desktop resolution and just increasing the font size for when I surf the net. I might just give that a shot because it would be cool to just use on resolution for dvd, tv, and desktop.

Thanks,
Chad

Yeah, the thing to realize, is that regardless of what you feed it (1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i) it will all be displayed at the native resolution, eg 1366x768. The question is what does the better job converting, the TV, or the PC, the answer, is usually the PC.
