recordings either dropping or skipping frames

One Colossus and one HDPVR 1212.
Occasionally, recordings are dropping small amounts of time, from three seconds to under a second. Seems recent. Each Happauge tuner device has its own drive - they record independently from each other, i.e. the Colossus only feeds drive A, and the HDPVR, drive B.
I'm at a loss where to look first. Neither drive is close to 95% full.
AMD quad core that rarely gets more than one stream accessing it, i.e. one room, one media extender at a time.
Miffed. Anyone else have this happen repeatedly, and find a solution?

With a Colossus my first suggestion would be to restart every night. I have to do that with my Colossus but I'm recording 5.1 sound off HDMI on Win7x64 ultimate box if that makes a difference.

When I used Win 7 x64 as my server I had to restart nightly in order to avoid bad recordings with my colossus.

I moved to Windows server 2012 and never restart. No issues with bad recordings. Same driver as the Win 7 box.

I thought latter versions of Windows fixed the problem.
