Frontier FIOS - Copy Once?

Tonight I am unable to tune in any cablecard channels on Frontier FIOS in Texas - they may have started turning on the copy flags. Anyone else noticing this? My WMC is able tune the channels in and OpenDCT is displaying the Copy Once message. This may be the day I've always feared...

I'm in the same boat, screwed over by Frontier.

In the short term I'm going to get a second HDPVR so I can record from two STB's, and then figure out if it's time to Tivo or maybe move to AT&T Gigapower or DirecTV.

I ran a channel scan on my HDHomerun Prime and confirmed most channels are now copy once. There are some holes. Locals are copy freely, of course, and so is AMC and Cartoon Network, but all the other copy freely's are one's I don't watch. Most everything good is Copy Once. I've kind of prepared for this with my dual STB + HD-PVRs, but it really pisses me off that Frontier + others are making it harder for me to watch the content that I AM PAYING FOR.

No doubt I will be exploring other options in terms of providers and other means of recording content.

I looked at that, but it seems kind of complicated and a bit too experimental for me to take on right now. I'll be keeping up with it though.

The problem with these suggestions is that you can only record 1 channel at a time if you want to record more it gets expensive. Every one in the Silicondust forum is hoping that they can get DRM ASAP. If you have other devices WMC is the only alternative.

The only issue with "getting DRM" is that no device will ever be certified if it can easily be used to copy copy-protected material

Yeah, that might lead to some sort of situation where copyrighted material would be available online through nefarious back-channels.

Do a rescan of your channels they have taken DRM off in some areas.

This has got to be a mistake - I just scanned and everything except for one channel is copy freely - no DRM tag in the HDHR channel scan web page. Only ESPN Buzzer beater has DRM. This would be ideal if it remained that way, but I have serious doubts.

I didn't catch this comment last week, but discovered on Friday that all my channels have had DRM removed as well. I'm reworking my system in case they reactivate it again, but let's hope they don't.

I did another scan this morning and DRM has appeared on 3 additional channels - however - these are channels that I don't watch. Be prepared for more changes. I can handle all kinds of DRM scenarios with 2 STBs and a 6 channel CC tuner, but would obviously prefer all DRM off and don't want to constantly be changing my channel lineups.

Telecore,
Is your Frontier FIOS still copy freely? Anyone from Oregon know if they changed ours to copy freely? I am thinking about picking up a prime to try this out...but don't want to spend the bucks if I am going to fail again...
thanks.

Sorry for the late reply as I didn't see this until today - yes Frontier FIOS is still copy freely for practically everything here in Texas. Hopefully it will stay this way but for now I still have cablecards plus two STBs/HD-PVRs in case DRM turns back on. I would love to return the STBs, though.
