Timeline problems with very long recordings (>6 hours)
Has anyone noticed any issues with playback problems, or skipping issues with very long, very large recordings?
I was playing back some golf coverage on the weekend and when trying to skip through commercials the files would at times reset back to the beginning of the file and refuse to go any farther. I had this happen on two different servers - one running V7 and one running V9. Note that the files were about 7.5 hours long which is over 45GB as it is an OTA recording from the local NBC affiliate. Is it possible that there is some sort of a problem like a variable not being large enough due to the very long duration of the file? Or a problem with files being too large as this file was 46,529,735KB. I have occasionally seen this before on very long recordings, also of golf for the Ryder Cup which can also have all-day recordings.

What kind of issues, exactly? Comskip doesn't work properly, timeline incorrect, stuttering? Which tuner is creating the issue (filetype)?

These files didn't have Comskip run on them. When I tried to manually use the SkipFwd or SkipFwdx2 button while watching the show at about the 4.5 hour mark it caused the playback position to return to the front of the file.

Is it possible that the file is just corrupted?
I see this same behavior from time to time on normal length recordings. In some cases just one spot in the recording is corrupted and trying to seek around that point screws everything up, but before and after are OK. Other times the whole timeline is screwed up and it won't playback properly. Running through Video Redo's Quick stream fix usually fixes it. Sometimes remixing with ffmpeg can also fix it.
