Timeline problems- Recordings getting cut off

I've had a randomly occurring problem for a while. Every once in a while I'll have a recording that gets cut off early. Basically, it will look like it recorded fine at first, but when I go to play it back I'll see that for every second that passes in real life, 6 seconds will pass in the timeline. The playback speed is normal- its just that the recorded gets cut off early. For a 90 minute show, it will only record 15 minutes. According to Sage there is 90 minutes there, but in reality its just 15 minutes.

I mostly see it with HDHR recordings, but I think its happened on my other tuners too.

Any ideas?

I've seen that 2-3 times...it's never really happened frequently enough for me to investigate though....

I couldn't even tell you if it was an HDPVR or HDHR produced recording. It is interesting to see others complain about it though....

I had a similar issue when recording using my Hauppauge 2250. It turned out to be a driver issue.

I've seen this happen once with our HD-PVR. We were recording a soccer game and even though the recording said it was for the full 2 1/2 hours, it didn't make it to the second half (under 90 minutes of real-time).

Annoying as hell

I hope it doesn't happen again

How did you figure out it was a driver issue? Was it happening frequently? This problem occurs infrequently enough that its quite difficult to diagnose.

It was happening very infrequently. The 2250 has two tuners and I had one set up for analog and the other for digital. I suspected it had something to do with switching back and forth. I found someone in the forum that had a similar issue and he suggested rolling back the driver to an earlier version. That fixed the problem.

I'm not sure that it would relate to your HD-PVR although it may. I have both the HD-PVR and the 2250, so maybe it does. I'm using driver 22xxdrv_27323 for the 2250 along (the next newer version caused a problem) with driver 1.5.7 for the HD-PVR (I think...I'm not at home right now to check) and that combination eliminated the problem for me. Since my system is stable, I haven't tried any of the newer HD-PVR drivers.

I hope that helps!
