Today the exemultituner plugin handles the channel changing integration to the FireWire channelw.exe

How would this be accomplished via the OpensageDCT configuration file?
Can someone please provide an example ?

1. No.

2. In your case, probably not, but you will want to take care of that within the next 6 months if you are using the free EPG data.

This thread should give you some ideas.

Specifying the executable is formatted very similar to how you modify the .reg file for EXEMultiTuner. I used to do firewire tuning before I bought CableCARD capture devices.

Thanks for the pointers.

Looks like a pretty easy format for the OpenSageDCT Config file...

Questions:

1. Why do I need to upgrade if I have free EPG - thought if you have a paid v7 license it is perpetual access to EPG?

2. Other than HDHR or Ceton what cable card capture do you use? Neither of those is capable of DRM - the solution with BM1000/3000 seems ideal ... Takes HDCP source and rebroadcasts as HTTP... what more can we ask for ?

EPG is ending.

Thanks for the info - was not aware.

Is there a pointer to how to setup the Schedules Direct EPG?

For those of us who have SageTV 7 - is it as simple as dropping in new executable to upgrade or is there more involved?

I'm using WMC Tuner for DRM with one of these.

When signing up for schedules direct - does SageTV use their new JSON service or the old XML that requires a line up?

Quote:
Schedules Direct offers two data services. With the new SD-JSON service, lineups are managed within the application. The legacy SD-DD (XML) service (still used by most applications) requires you add a lineup below.
Which one?

Which one?
It uses the JSON service. Here is the primary thread about it.

For folks interested - here is my experience so far:

1. Received the BM3000-hdmi.

2. Plugged in to cable TV cable box (hdmi) - easy setup...

3. Streaming across all cable TV channels works flawlessly in VLC

--> Next step hook to SageTV

I got a BM3000-HDMI to record from DirecTV. Here is what I did to get it to work and some of the problems I had along the way.

You need to follow the directions in this link to add the settings in opendct.properties file for the BM3000.
https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63855
Be sure you shut down the OpenDCT service before editing the file.

Open the Sage.properties file and change network_encoder_discovery=True
See link https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...&postcount=175
Be sure you shut down the Sage service before editing the file.

You then need to start Sage and in Settings/Set Up Video Sources you need to set up the new OpenDCT capture device.

I installed a HDMI splitter so that I would have an HDMI signal for both the TV and the BM3000.

If the Genie mini is turned off the BM3000 puts out a test pattern and Sage happily records the test pattern.

If you leave the Genie on with anything other than live TV it will go into screen saver mode. Sage will happily record the screen saver.
You can not disable the screen saver. You will need to disable the power saver mode to prevent it from turning off after a preset time.

When the mini is turned off it shuts down the connection with the DVR so you can't turn it on with a network command.
You have to use an IR Blaster if you want to turn it on remotely.

The Genie mini is slow to respond. Some people record from the Genie DVR because it responds faster and you can turn it on over the network.

This is the OpenDCT tuning command that I use for my DirecTV Genie mini.
sagetv.device.-959809139.tuning_executable=http\://192.168.X.XXX\:8080/tv/tune?clientAddr\=yyyyyyyyyyyy&major\=%c%

The X is the address of the main Genie DVR.
The y is the hardware address of the mini.
The mini does not have a network connection so the DVR has to pass the command to the mini over the antenna cable.
The %c% is a variable that is replaced by OpenDCT with the channel number that is then passed to the mini.

I went to the WEB site www.unisheen.cn to look to see if I had the latest firmware but couldn't find any support pages.

Configuring OpenDCT to invoke the firewire channel changing exe.

The current reg entry for exemultituner is:

Quote:
c:\progra~1\timmmo~1\mce200~1\channelw.exe -f -v %DEVICE% %CHANNEL%

The opendct instructions say to use a property:

Quote:
sagetv.device.<unique_id>.tuning_executable=/path/to/tuning/script --device=0 --tune=%c%
How do I match these two since the parameters are different? Do I need to create a custom bat file or is there a way to do it directly?

Thanks in advance.

c:\\progra~1\\timmmo~1\\mce200~1\\channelw.exe -f -v <device_number> %c%

I don't know what the device number is going to be; you'll have to provide that.

My current setup:

1. PC with SageTV 7 running as a Network Encoder connected to HD-PVRs (attached to cable box) and using firewire channel tuning

The firewire channel tuning occurs via the local executable on this PC. (requires a 32-bit installation)

2) PC with SageTV 7 server connecting to #1 network encoder (this is the main server for all of my SageTV clients) (64-bit server)

I added the BM3000-HDMI as a local video source to my PC running as a Network Encoder (#1 above). The video works perfectly from within the local SageTV server.

However - the video does NOT stream from the Network Encoder SageTV to the main Server SageTV(#2 above).

I have a couple local HDPVRs on #1 that are working fine and can be seen on #2. Just NOT the BM3000-HDMI.

Need some help debugging this... the stream is simply not being sent (buffer size stays 0).

Thanks in advance.

Fixed the problem ...

Now I have found out that it looks like Comcast has disabled use of the firewire port on the RNG 150.... (cannot see the imaging device anymore)

Looks like I need to use usb-uirt...

Question:

How to use OpenDCT with USB-UIRT on SageTV 7? How do you configure channel changing?

It doesn't work. v9 had some changes made so that you could use tuning plugins within SageTV for network encoders, but in v7 even if you manually set the tuning method, it will not use it.

So the path forward is to upgrade to v9 and then use the plugin for usb-uirt.
Is that correct?

What is the name of the usb-uirt plugin? (I have never used usb-uirt before)

There is no plugin - it is built in when you add the tuner one of your options is the USB-UIRT. The one thing that takes some work is setting up the .ir file for your box. The default provided is for Motorola (remember them!). If you want I can post the file for SA/Cisco boxes.

Thanks for the info.

On the .ir files...

1. Can you give me a pointer to how to edit/modify them?

2. I am using a RNG150 (Pace)... anyone have a sample for those?
