How to deal with EAS "Emergency Alerts System" lockups?

Cincinnati Bell Fioptics box occasionally refuses to changes channels, and when I go to check it, it's wanting someone to acknowledge the EAS test with a remote press. I have a script running to keep it on via USB UIRT, and it seems like it would be easy to set up another to acknowledge EAS, but I don't know what the timing would need to be. Anyone else see this?

would this explain why my Cox set-top box is randomly NOT changing channels for recordings when requested by Sage?

Mine gets a red crawler across the top about an eas test. Have to hit info on remote to get it to go away. Until then, it doesnt respond to any usbuirt input. Don't know anything about cox, but this doesn't fix itself, so you would probably know

I've been getting the odd recording that just doesn't change channels, quite often between 10pm and 6am. I used to think it was Sage locking up, but if I manually try and change the Cox channel via Sage after a failed channel change, it usually works. Which remote do you have to hit 'info' on?

The fioptics box's remote. Sage cant do anything with it in that state. I find out when i try to change to a channel requiring the box, and it just stays on whatever it was on. Then i have to figure out which recordings it missed

When I had Dish, I had Sage setup to send Enter before every channel change, that was because the Dish boxes would go to sleep and you'd have to hit enter to wake them.

I think it was Channel Change Prefix or something. You could set Sage to hit Info before every channel change, so long as that doesn't break more stuff.

That's a great idea. I hadn't thought about doing it before channel change, only setting up a timer, which would have resulted in the show info popping up every 30 minutes in a recording. Thanks!
