User interface for v9
I guess my other posts asking for help with my system weren't v9 related enough. It got deleted without so much as a PM to tell me it was deleted.
So hopefully this one will be close enough. I installed v9 today to try to fix some issue. It's working, but with issues; I'll try to hash out in the regular software forum I guess. My issue is the user interface. My wife REALLY likes the v6 user interface due to its simplicity (you remember the blue wave?). Can I use that user interface with v9? Also, what about some of the other user interfaces, plug ins, STI's, STV's, or whatever they all were. Will all those work with v9?

I think it might even be the SageTV3 XML file that you want. It looks like there isn't a C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3 folder in V9 but there is in V7 and I am guessing that you could take it from a Sage V7 install and it would work.
Just download/install V7 on a PC and copy that folder to V9, then try setting it as your STV in Detailed Setup / Advanced/Set Full UI Package

I think you might need the entire folder as it has lots of graphical objects including a background image file with the blue wave

Yes, you need the full folder and it will work but was removed from the v9 installer as its outdated... but someone could wrap it up as an stv plugin.

Hah, i am going through the same thing. I am still using an old Sony XBR36 TV in my main family room but want to upgrade to V9 but the issue was that the new user interface does not display well on my 4x3 tv. So i copied \STVs\SageTV3 folder fro a V6 installation to my V9 install and selected the TV3 STVi. It appears to be working OK but you won't get all the bells and whistles that the V9 STVi has. It's a good interim step though and it allows me to also use the v9 interface on my other HD TVs.

I'm in the same boat. My wife definitely prefers the simplicity/look of the Sage 6 UI.
JusJoken - any way to create a Gemstone flow to mimic the Sage 6 look/feel? I tried once to make mods via Sudio on test v7 setup but got completley lost and hosed up a bunch of stuff. Problem with using the TV3 STVi is that you don't have the plug in manager for v7 |
