open source v9 doesnt wake computer

deleted/uninstalled v7 & installed v9, ever since WOL is not waking up my server computer (windows8,)
I turned on debug logging on the server & edit the 0023a5000421.properties @ C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\clients with the line 'debug_logging=true'
Where would I fine the log file? there is nothing in C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\logs from the hd300 box.
any thoughts?

Any chance other mods/configurations were made? I always thought that Wake On Lan was a function of the BIOS and/or network card. It might be that they could also be a function of the network card or BIOS.

Is Sage not waking for recordings or is not waking from the HD300 wake on lan signal? Or is it both? I would start by testing your wake-on-lan using a third party wake-on-lan app that you can send with your phone or something. If the computer wakes then it's a sage problem, if it doesn't then it's a windows/acpi problem.

No. I uninstalled v7, rebooted, installed v9. That's all . there is no need for me to change any of my BIOS / network card settings to install Opensource v9
Why would anyone do that???
It was working before!!!

Not waking the server from the HD300.
AGAIN, it was working before, the box get turned on, wakes the server, I can watch my movies. Didn't need a 3rd party app. I did not make any changes to windows/network card/BIOS, all I did is uninstalled sagetv v7 and istalled v9.

Was there maybe a Windows update applied as well? The HD300 is what will send out the WOL packet...and you didn't change that software. And the SageTV software running on the PC has nothing to do with WOL; that's all in the BIOS/OS. So the upgrade of the SageTV software should have nothing to do with this.

Thanks for your reply.
Can you explain the process how sage300 does the WOL. Reason I am asking is because I can wake the sever (server with all my movies)from my pfsense sever, or the wifi asus RT68U wifi repeater or my android phone, and all of them wake the sage media-server just fine with or without BIOS modifications, what were never chanced in the process of the upgrade.
What is the process of WOL process in regards the HD300 unit. Reason I'm asking is that I have to provide the pfsense server with an MAC address of the mediaserver in order to do the WOL process. Same for the Asus RT68U wifi repeater.
I nerver put in the mac address into the sagetv v9 setup procedure.
How does HD300 know what to wake up without the MAC address?

Thanks

We have server code running that a client can make a request to which will then respond with the MAC address of the server. This has actually be in there a long time (it was used with the MediaMVP). What may be happening is that its sending out the MAC of a different network adapter. You can set a property in Sage.properties on the server called "forced_mac_address" which will then make it tell clients that is the MAC address it has. Then clients would end up sending the WOL packet to that MAC address. Try doing that and see if it fixes your problem.

I did shut down the "SageTV 9 Service Control" prior of adding forced_mac_address=00:1f:d0:d9:f0:a7
but when there service is running the line forced_mac_address= is gone.
Do I have to edit the Sage.properties this in Windows save mode?

its working now. thanks a lot
