BMT required?
Sorry, this probably should be obvious but I didn't see anything in the FAQ. Does Gemstone require BMT or does it have its own metadata fetcher? Thanks.

Gemstone does not require BMT Web UI. Gemstone does use Phoenix core which is used by BMT and Phoenix UI to fetch metadata and fanart.

Further to this....Gemstone can support no fan art or central fan art or fan art located in the media folder. I use BMT to manage mine as do many I believe but it is not a requirement.
Go into options and Image options (I believe that's what it's called) and then set the options for how you want to have your fan art. k |

Installing Gemstone will install the Phoenix Core, as it is a dependency for Gemstone. The Phoenix Code, when installed, will start handling the fetching of metadata and fanart, by default - so if you want to use Gemstone, and NOT use the phoenix fetchers, you'd have to disable those fetchers in phoenix's configuration after it gets installed.

Image Options can be found by pressing Options then selecting Utility Functions, Image Options from the main menu.
The default is that Phoenix Fanart is ON. But you can turn it off from this menu and if your Fanart are in the media folders then set check folders first. k |

Thanks for the help. Is there any way to do a manual lookup/match in the Gemstone UI or is BMT necessary for this? Also, is there any way to prevent the .properties files from being created?

Short answer on the manual lookup is no...not yet.
But you can use CMT which works very well from within Gemstone with most of the BMT features directly from within the UI. As for the .properties.... There is a setting in Sage I believe to turn it off but the setting may be in Phoenix. Check the Phoenix core plugin under its configure menu to see if you can turn it off from there. k |
