transcoding a video
Is it possible to transcode a video when using the convert option of SageTV ? I would like to remove parts at the beginning and at the end without modifying the main part. Conversion profiles seems to be specified in sage.properties. Any idea which syntax is used ?

The syntax is mostly an ffmpeg commandline syntax, with some standins I believe. Been a very long time since I've looked at it though. Transcoding IS what the convert function does - changing the coding from one format to another. What you are talking about is using copy mode, which is more often referred to as remuxing (remultiplexing), which is taking the same elementary streams, and putting them in a new container. I have not tried configuring sagetv's profiles for copy mode, so not sure if it'd work.
