Also, some of the older Android devices if they are not armv7 will not work as well, but i don't know what they are.

The Log file will dumpt out the architecture first thing, so hopefully we can start building a list of what works and what doesn't.
Hmm I tough Nvidia Tegra Family where all ARM not x86 device

You take old system get this http://www.android-x86.org/

I updated to 0.05 Alpha.. this version doesn't fix anything but it should capture more logging when the app just fails to start (hopefully).

People will need to enable the Log to SDCARD in the preferences... if you can get that far. And then send me the log files.

BTW, all versions are on the bintray site.
https://bintray.com/opensagetv/saget...iniClient/view
So, you can roll back to any version... but, at least try to capture a log so that we can figure out what is failing

It's crashing before it can create the log file. Do some devices treat "sdcard" differently? For example, some devices have some internal storage that emulates "sdcard" perhaps?
If you completely uninstall, and then install again, it should remove all caches.

So, here's why Nvidia and Nexus Player don't work... they are 64bit (Nvidia is arm, I think, and the nexus player is x86).

http://shield.nvidia.com/android-tv/...roku-vs-firetv

I don't have 64bit builds working, yet.

I put it on my Galaxy Tab S and it worked. VLC kept stuttering during playback and left a "ghost" of the last video frame in the background when you stopped and went back to the menu. The other player kept playing the first few seconds of the video over and over, but if you waited 30 seconds or so playback was smooth and looked great, (on par with the Phoenix Remote/MX Player Pro combination I use now). The second player didn't have any ghosting either. I probably won't be able to get the SHIELD free until tomorrow night to test. Great progress!

Edit: This was with 0.04. The posts are fast and furious tonight . And I didn't uninstall the older version first. And I'll skip the SHIELD test .

Also, people should probably install this utility
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id.cpu_z&hl=en

That will get alot information about your system especially if you are running arm/x86, etc.

yeah, the ghosting is something I've seen as well... i think I just need to clear video buffer when the video stops.

For the video files that you are playing, do you know what kinds of files these are.. ie, .ts, mp4, etc.

I guess just adding a bunch of "try/catch" around the startup areas did the trick I'm sure the log is logging an error, probably something to do with VLC since it is accessed pretty early on.

No... VLC and IJKPlayer are embedded. An external player won't work. I think when we get further along, I'll need to samples of files that don't play for troubleshooting. I have 1 mp4 and 1 mkv and 2 .ts files that I'm using for testing... They all play.

So, you are running Android on a Laptop? Interesting... Is this natively running ONLY android, or are you running an android on top of windows/linux.

OK, I think my first test was skewed due to comskip. I deleted the EDL files and tried playback again, (both TS OTA and MP4 CableCard samples). This time VLC was still laggy with the video, but the audio wasn't stuttering. The other player started up and played fine.

I tried the gamepad support and it worked. If I use keyboard or touchscreen I have to press something twice to select, but the gamepad just needed a single A press.

Log trying to play MP4 crashes.

It crashes when trying to play mp4 ... When started initially it goes to the end of the file I hit restart from beginning and it crashes. VLC will not work crashes instantly.

PS Disabling animations makes it much snappier ... (Nexus Player)
