Narflex Announcement

Re today's EPG announcement - I'm confused how anyone could be using the EPG WITHOUT a license, aka you could use SageTV all this time without a license?
Or is this in reference to the upcoming open source project?

I think it refers to "trial" users.

The upcoming open source project is the reason this change was made.

I guess that means anyone setting up a new server as a trial until its ready to take the old one down and transfer the license key is OOL. Glad I kept my second SageTV license... Phew!

What if you have a valid (BUT NEVER USED) key number? Can you still get listings with it?

Or is the "whitelist" only those numbers that have used the services before?

I don't see why not, I believe any valid key should work.

Yep. I just a got a reply from Jeff. I'll need to get home tonight to try it out.

Just a heads up to others: In the rare case (like me) of having a valid key that is unused--you won't be on the list that lets you access the EPG data.

But Jeff will put it right... but if he leaves for that around-the-world cruise you may wait a bit.
