It is a valid question - don't want calls to start getting rejected. I'm guessing Stuckless only picked up a developer key for it, so yes, if it becomes a problem, it would likely be worth a tiny patreon or something to go with a larger key. I don't know if there is a way to view a key's activity or not.

I actually have the account and created the wunderground implementation in Phoenix. It is limited and I believe I have access to check on usage too...but I have not looked for a while.

Maybe Wunderground doesn't enforce the key unless you are really hammering their servers.

might be interesting to see how much traffic it's getting. I doubt there's much. Sage users are a small group currently. Those that use Gemstone are an even smaller group. Of those, the ones who have chosen wunderground instead of the default yahoo weather service are even smaller.

Slight correction....I guess it's been awhile since I went into the API and miss stated the above.

We built 3 implementations of weather in Phoenix and that's what Gemstone uses.

Yahoo! - this is a free API and fairly simple

World Weather Online - this is a Free API that I wrote a Phoenix implementation for and manage the key. I checked online and it says we have 13500 queries per day....5 per second. It's a free service so it provides no more info than that and it looks like that is average over the life of the key which was obtained in March 2013.

Wunderground - this is a wrapper of the Sage API that is a wrapper of the wunderground paid API. I assume Sage (Google) paid/pays for this service. Phoenix cannot/does not call the wunderground api directly but instead just calls the wrapper Opus wrote for Sage to use in the base product. This lets Phoenix/Gemstone to use this service too. I therefore have no access to check the number of calls and those would be blended with the Sage (non-Gemstone) users calls anyway.

Clear as mud now ;o)

I wish I had the time to tackle this. I taught myself basic programming 30 years ago. I know, don't laugh. Something tells me this would have a very steep learning curve, otherwise I would try it. I have my own api key so that part of it wouldn't be a problem.

I am currently using that key to gather weather info from my station from weather underground to use with homeseer. Works great.

For my local station in Indian Hills, Riverside, CA, which is called KCARIVER32, if I enter the location in gemstone as:

pws:KCARIVER32
This setting appears to be set at the client (aka extender) level rather than the server level, is that correct? Because I seem to have to enter it on each extender in my house. It is a pain entering these locations using a remote control.

By the way I don't think the entry is case sensitive - which is good as I don't know that using a Sage remote that you can enter lower case letters. So the entry above would also work if entered: PWS:KCARIVER32 . On the Sage remote you have to press the "1" key several times to get symbols such as the colon.

Did you try setting it on one extender and exporting the settings and then just importing the settings on the other extenders?

Not sure - I will try that. I am assuming that I can also export from the server as well, can't I?
