Re scan media keeps scanning
Anyone have any idea why when I set my server to scan media for any length of time it keeps scanning every 5 minutes or so? I've selected 1 hour, 12 hours doesn't seem to matter. I've disabled it for now to stop it from continually scanning as it takes resources and slows down the rest of the system while its happening.
Assuming I can't fix it, is there a way to trigger a scan externally (though a scheduled task in windows for instance?) |

If you have Web Server installed, then you can have a scheduled task call WGET (Google it) which will execute the URL Web Server uses to kick off the refresh.

I wonder if it is a bad/corrupt recording/media file somewhere in your system. Kind of like when a bad recording can make a favorite not work. I also often get recordings that will play OK, but somewhere in the recording is a glitch that causes a few frames to drop, but will make Comskip run FOREVER on the recording.
If you can easily repeat the continuous running of the media scan then I'd try removing all your media directories from SageTV and put them back in one by one, then test the media scan after putting each one back in. If a bad recording/file is the issue then it will at least point you to the offending directory/folder where that file exists. Good luck.
