Is there any way to reboot extenders from the Sage server?

The SageTVService process seemed to crash on my PC, probably due to running out of memory- I got a message that this had occurred. I have rebooted the PC but when I go to use my extenders for the first time they also seem to require a power cycle. Is there any way to reboot all known extenders from the server?

Thanks. The only downside to that is that you need to know the IP of the extenders - it would be nice if the Web UI had a page that should all known extenders and then an option to reboot each. Maybe this is a good reason to use static IPs with your extenders as you will then have a better idea what IP address that they have, especially if you have a lot of them like I do.

I've always assigned IP's for my devices in my router's dhcp config, that way I can keep the devices as dynamic IP's, but they always get assigned the same IP address (and I can organize them.. routers and access points i put in .1-.9, servers and pc's .10-.19, extenders .20-.29, etc. No functional reasoning for this, just my mindset requires it.

That's one way to do it but then you have to redo it if you change routers. I think I am on my third router since I started using Sage in 2007 or so. And occasionally, due to crappy firmware in my ISP's gateway, I have had to run the device in gateway mode (so it acts as both cable modem and router) rather than bridge mode (where it just acts as cable modem) which means this gets screwed up again.

I think I will just you static and use the .50s for my extenders - for some reason I think I am already using a static IP of .50 for one of them for some reason.

I only ever use one of two things as a router. Either a consumer router that will support tomato firmware, in which case I can back up the config, or what I'm currently using, which is an old atom pc running pfsense, again, easy to back-up. I do have 3 consumer routers on the network with tomato on them, but they are acting only as access points and switches.

In the scenario you describe, do your extenders automatically power up when you reboot the computer, so they are all in the "on" mode when the server comes back up?

This is typical of my setup. Every time I have to reboot for M$ updates, etc all my extenders get the idea they have to power on. They'll end up in the off state if I start a Sage activity on the Harmony remote before the extender's screensaver has kicked in. Annoying and I've been unable to use the webremote from the interface to power them off for some time now. Webremote works for any other commands to control menus or playback though.

i Try to shut them all off (which I guess is really standby) before I reboot the server or restart the service. They are then all in standby when the server can new back up.

Having them all power up and is bad news if you have more than four extenders as that will case you to run out of JVM.

Link to the auto power off plugin for extenders. An easy way to help extend the life of HD300s.

That's where I was going with this, and I, too, am not able to get the web interface to power an extender down.
