Java Screwed it all up...Need some Help
I believe I have issues with Java and clients not finding the server.
On the server I had only java 6 update 10 on it. On 1 of my clients (did not check em all) I had java 6 update 10 and Java 7 update 59? I uninstalled Java 7 and I was able to find the server in the pop up, but was still unable to connect. I uninstalled all java on the client PC installed new Java 8, still not able to connect. Uninstalled (after stopping the service) Java 6 on the server and updated to Java 8, restarted the service, and still no dice. Where should I go from here ? |

Wasn't it Java 7 where they began prompting you to reset all your Java security settings back to default and you needed to UNcheck it in order to keep them the same? Perhaps that's the issue?

Open up Control Panel and go to Java. You can change whatever settings you want in there.

So... anyone know what the security settings need to be? I haven't been able to get SageTV to find Java with the default security settings.

Looks like Oracle doesn't host Java 7 anymore. Anyone know a safe place to find it?

Was evaluating a switch back. Haven't found a platform that I'm really happy with here in the UK. Unfortunately, I've run into some blocking issues with SageTV as well. Should be able to code around them, but I'm not sure that would really be better than what I have now.
