Zap2It screws up royally.

Zap2It has completely screwed up the channel lineup for Spokane WA now. The lineup I'd been using has been removed and the two that are available for Comcast come back with lineup data for the Seattle WA area. This happened sometime in the last couple of days.

On top of it, they are unavailable on weekends (and holidays I bet) to fix screwups like this so my SageTV setup is crippled until sometime next week.

The loss of EPG data sure cripples SageTV once you've gotten used to it finding and recording stuff automatically for you. My only choice now is to go through setup and tell SageTV to not use EPG data so that it will make all the raw channels on my tuner card available once again. At least that way I can manually record certain shows by date/time. An interesting bug in doing that is that SageTV remembers the old lineup at certain times, the LiveTV display shows double channels, one with just the number, one with the old channel name. The old one throws an error if you click on it.

Something tells me I'm looking my channel lineup is going to be screwed even when Zap2It gets its act together because now it's poluted with the raw tuner channel data.

Followup: SageTV eventually figured out that the old channels were useless and deleted them, so the only selections I'm shown now are the raw channel numbers. It just took it awhile to notice the change I guess.

you can force an epg update by
going to the channel setup and just add and then remove any channel

this should force an update as long as you are connected to the internet

Which would do me absolutly no good because I no longer have a valid list of channels to update. Zap2It deleted the channel layout I'd been using and created a new one that lists channels for Seattle instead of Spokane. Even if there was a way to restore the old layout, it wouldn't update because the update must make use of the layout name, which no longer exists.

I'm basically screwed until Zap2It bothers to read their feedback email some time next week, creates a valid layout and I happen to notice it show up.

you can change the channel to the correct channel by using the remap command in the channel setup

this way all you need is the correct channels even if there number is not correct and then you just remap them to the correct number with the remap command

as long as the seattle lineup has the same channels available or at least you can get very close to all the channels hopefully enough to get your recording of your favorites until you contact Frey

when you contact Frey it will still take a while

so hopefully this will resolve most problems be remapping them (it works how I am explaining it )

I have done it for a couple channels that I needed

and hopefully there is no time difference in the airings

good luck

Yes, that would work for some of the channels, but probably half the recordings I make are from the local channels which don't exist in the Seattle lineup.

Why would I contact Frey about this? They don't provide the listings, Zap2It does, Frey simply puts a front end on what they produce.

Frey has been real good about going after Zap2It when they screw up for its customers.
