SageDCT No Signal on Some Channels

I set up SageDCT with the HDHomeRun and a cable card and it was working great for a few days and then for some strange reason channels 2 and 4 stopped working and I get no signal. I originally remapped channels 2-13 in SD (ie: channel 2080 on time warner is channel 2 in SD) and it was all working for several days and then only channels 2 and 4 as of this morning now give no signal. However, if I go into the HD Home Run software I can view channels 2 and 4 in SD just fine. So it works in the HDHomeRun software but not in Sage and only those channels. I tried restarting SageDCT and I tried restarting the Sage Server as well.

Anyone with any thoughts as to what might cause this?
Thanks.

In the SageDCT settings, Capture tab, you'll probably need to be using ffmpeg as the capture method instead of Dump.

The only tabs in SageDCT are settings, discovery, service, test and tuners. How do I set up ffmpeg and why do you think I would need to if it worked fine before? Now, it only doesn't work on channels 2 and 4 the other basic channels work fine.

Mike,

Sounds like you might not be using the most recent version of SageDCT (2.7.0.2) which has a "Capture" tab where you can select ffmpeg. The latest version is available on babgvant's website but you have to make a (nominal) donation to access the latest version download.

Cheers

Also, depending on your OS and hardware, there's this:

http://www.missingremote.com/news/20...tall-kb3004394

What it describes matches my setup. I had just updated before I saw this. All kept running fine till a few days ago when sage started missing recording because it suddenly couldn't tune the cable channels. I ran another windows update (MS put out a fix), rebooted and it all works again. Not sure if this was indeed the issue or just rebooting it did the trick.

Hope this helps.

Bobby

I read this and then used the Donate button near the bottom to get "early access," or rather access to SageDCT 2.7.2:

http://babgvant.com/Wiki/view.aspx/Early_Access

In the Paypal transaction, I believe I mentioned something in a note about SageDCT 2.7.2 access.

And then here for the 2.7.2 download:

It's the holiday season, so it may take Andy a few days or even a week or two to get back to you with access.

Thank you all for your replies - I'll check into it. As an update, I'll let you all know that channels 2 and 4 started working again for no reason that I can find. I don't have Windows set to update automatically and nothing that I can find has changed except we went from one day to the next. I still made the donation because I would like to get the latest version. Also, is the best place to get ffmpeg? It seems there are a few different versions floating around and I'm not sure the best one to get or the best place to get it.

Thanks

Mike, what you experienced with those two channels is common, and it comes and goes.

FFmpeg comes with SageDCT 2.7.2.

So are you saying I don't need to download ffmpeg? I downloaded the x64 version for my windows 7 but I'm not sure if there are other settings I need to configure because it currently works on "dump" but not on ffmpeg.

Thanks,
Mike

Correct, you do not need to download ffmpeg, Andy included the necessary files in the SageDCT 2.7.2 install.

I got the latest version and at the capture page if I select DUMP then it sometimes works and sometimes does not work at all or only certain channels don't work for a while. I tried selecting Ffmpeg and I get this error:

Watch Request Failed Error(-20): There is no mediaplayer that can palyback the selected file while it's being recorded

I'm not sure if there are other settings I need to select at the capture tab or why I'm getting this error.

Thanks,

That's an error that you're getting in the SageTV player? What video renderer do you have selected in Sage settings?

I'm using EVR (Enhanced Video Render) and SageTV MPEG for the decoder setting. But, it works fine when I set the capture tab to DUMP. It just won't show channels 2 and 4, the other basic channels work fine. But, if I set it to ffmpeg then I get the error.
