Closed Captions

Hi,
I know this will sound completely feeble but I cannot get the appearance of closed captions. No matter what I change in the Caption and Subtitle mods plugin settings or in sage.properties and sageclient.properties, the captions look exactly the same.

I can also not change their position on the screen and, in some shows, they are practically in the middle of the screen (vertically).

The subtitle options change subtitles perfectly.

This is on OTA recordings through my Homerun and Hauppauge decoders - and I've tried with the following video decoders:
ATI MPEG Video Decoder
SageTV MPEG Video Decoder

I'm wondering if this is all hard-coded into SageTV? Or is there somewhere else I can look for settings? I was playing around with it this weekend and, at one point, I was able to activate CC2 which showed up in italics at the bottom of the screen - that was good but I restored an old Sage backup and cannot replicate this.

It's one of those niggling things that is driving me bonkers.
