Closed Captions
I can get my closed captions to show up/activate. I've followed the directions on the Cayars thread but it still doesn't work. Cayars 18E, Sage 2.2.8, PVR 350 with latest drivers (as of Apr 30).
Thanks

What have you done so far? (registy and/or sage settings)
Have you verified that captions are being recorded? (via mpg2srt) Jere

I've changed the registry settings...fourth number of the recording quality type (did them all just to make sure) from 0A to 0E. Within Sage, I've enabled all CC options and even duing a show that has CC I've "right clicked" (yellow button on my Haup. remote) and selected "Close Captions (On)" but still notta. When I do the right click within Sage and try to enable CC, the program doesn't let me change the value.
I'll look for the program mpg2srt...never heard of it but I'll look for it.

mpg2srt is a program (by merrypig from the Snapstream forums) that extracts CC from an MPEG and creates a subtitle file. I'm attaching a copy to this message. Enjoy.
If Sage won't allow you to enable the captions, 2 causes immediately leap to mind. First, some decoders do not support captions. Which decoder are you using? Second, make sure that 3d acceleration is turned on and the PVR-350 hardware decoder is turned off. A great source of information is page 205 of the SageTV manual. (Hi Andy!) Fixed
Thanks Jere_Jones! You got it. The video decoder was set to NVIDIA Video Post Processor and caused CC not to work. If I change it to just NVIDIA Video Decoder then CC works just fine. I thought that the P.P. decoder was "better" but from what I've seen of what it can't do, ??? For instance, if I also use the NV P.P. my DVD selector doesn't show up on the DVD menu screen. And also it seems that the P.P. doesn't allow the CC. I know this is a topic for another thread so I'll leave it alone now. thanks again, Jere_Jones.
