Makes me sad that I'm never likely to get my hands on SageTV version 8+.
I'm limping along using what I had lying around when the acquisition happened.

Played with other options but nothing comes close. I've a sad feeling with the way TV watching is changing that there won't be anything to replace it...

I wonder which CPU SageTV is running on...considering that JVM 1.5 is the version still being deployed and apparently 1Gb still the max heap limit as they probably using a 32bit ARM/MIPS/PPC micro and I'm not surprised about Linux 2.6 as nearly three years after Linux 3.x is still the most widely used in embedded systems, so overall this could have been the HD400

I wonder often what the back end is for Google Fiber TV... just some old Dell running XP in an office closet?

Nah, probably a Vic20. Actually the only thing they would need a "main" server for that I can think of is the EPG stuff. Everything else is driven from a "Network TV Box" in each home.

Brent - did you ever post an article on the DVR capabilities of Google Fiber and the similarities, if any, to SageTV?

Years later and I still get jealous comments and questions of "Hey, how do I do that?" every time a guest sees it auto skip commercials. With many free streaming options going ad heavy, comskip is still such a great plugin.
