Brief signal cutout when pressing Play

I have an HD300 - one I bought used off the forum here - that occasionally (not always) shows an odd behavior: when I press play on the remote, watching either a recording or a video, the signal completely cuts out for about 3 seconds. The screen goes blank, and the "HDMI1" pops up on the screen as it would when you turn on the screen but don't have any input devices turned on at all. Then suddenly it starts playing, having missed those three (or so) seconds. Once or twice, the audio has started playing a second or so before the video shows up, but this is rare. And once it starts playing, I can jump back/rewind and everything is fine, it plays correctly from the beginning.

The output is HDMI for both audio and video (into a receiver).

As indicated, this doesn't really affect anything other than being slightly annoying (and that momentary fear that the unit died, for the few seconds until it starts playing). FWIW, I have had HD100s and 200s in the same spot (same network cable, same HDMI connection to the receiver) in the past year and they were all fine.

Any ideas what could cause this to happen on this one unit?

Just a wild guess, but is it possible you have this extender set for native resolution output? Maybe it's changing resolution to match the recording you are playing back and that causes your TV to re-sync?

Ahhhh... I did have that enabled. I disabled it last night and the one show I had a chance to watch started just fine (though admittedly the issue was not always there, it would have depended on the resolution that I was playing). I'll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again.

Is that a normal behavior of the native output resolution switching? I would have thought Sage would have tried to get rid of that before making it a standard option in the software....

If you have a very high end (?) TV, the TV will do a better job of up converting that the HD200 will, so some people WANT the native option.

Yes, that is normal, it's the TV re-syncing to the different input signal.
