Why is it always HEAVY SNOW?

My wife and I have both been noticing that any time there's even the slightest chance of snow in the forecast, that Gemstone shows HEAVY SNOW in the text description. I don't know if this is due to the provider of Gemstone's weather or if Gemstone is interpreting the feed wrong, but I thought I'd mention it.

How exactly does the algorithm for weather backgrounds work? Is this something that we can tweak ourselves?

edit - To add a bit more detail - perhaps we could have "month backgrounds" where the backgrounds would be pulled from folder 1-12 depending on the month (this has come up a few times in the forums) or even a month-day format where you can show stuff like birthday photos for family members with a birthday on a given date. Or for today you could show a Groundhog.

It appears that the numeric code for heavy snow is 42 (check out the C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\Gemstone\Weather\Backgrounds\42 folder) and, as we all know, 42 is the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything. QED

You are correct (as was my wife...go figure)....there was an error in how it was interpreting the code coming from wunderground.

I fixed it inside the Phoenix Core code (removed the word "Heavy"....big fix ) so the next time a new version of Phoenix Core is release the snow will get lighter

You do realize he already fixed it? (It's now in the phoenix deployment queue... ie, I need to push out a new phoenix core update... not sure it's worth it for just a single bug fix -- Maybe if I get time this weekend, I can repackage and deploy it.)

Yeah, but that would've made the joke even worse. A few of us will if the snow actually does "lighten up" after the release. Then, people can say that both jusjoken and the NFL control the weather.

Speaking of weather, did anyone else notice that the original weather provider seems to be working again? My extenders when not connected to Sage now show weather information again.
