Unselected continued recording in SageTV

Hi Guys,

I'm a total newb with SageTV as I installed this only last night. So forgive me as I haven't experiment enough.. but thought I'd throw this question out.

I went into the scheduler and selected a show (Seinfeld) to record... which should have been a half hour of recording. But I noticed it started recording the show after.

I manually stopped the continued recording, so maybe I stopped it prematurely not letting SageTV figure out that it's not supposed to continue. Not sure.

I don't think I should have to set a time for it to stop... or am I missing an important setting?

Were you watching Seinfeld as it was recording?

There are a couple entries in the FAQ about liveTV that will probabaly answer your question.

Then Sage continued to record the next show as a Time-Shift buffer in case you wanted to watch it. If you put Sage to Sleep, or did a Stop command it would have stopped recording on it.

Either way, the recording would have been deleted and not have been added to your recordings list.

EDIT: Also if you changed the channel you would see the buffer recording move to that new channel.

I see.

But I guess if you use the "sleep" option, you lose the replay features of LiveTV. No thanks!

It's also nice to know that the recording would have been deleted from the recordings list.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, but you don't put it to sleep until you are done watching any TV, live or prerecorded. SageTV continues to record scheduled recordings while sleeping; it is just one way to force live TV mode to stop recording when you want it to stop.

Edit: Watching a scheduled recording puts SageTV into live TV mode, but if you put it to sleep while watching any scheduled recording in progress, it will not stop recording it.
