Handbrake Bluray and playing on HD300

I have whs v1 & sagetv server with approx. 13 tb of storage for movies, photos and music.

I have used anydvdhd to rip and copy to the server but am concerned about some of the bluray approaching 50gb in size.

Thought I would try handbrake and see what the quality and size were like.

I tried to conversions of the movie world war z one with MVK and one with the MP4 container.

After copying over to server and importing and scanning I cannot find the movie at all on the server. Its there but I cannot see it to play.

If I stop the hd300 from automatically connecting to the server (i.e. use the hd300 strickly as the extender) I can find the movie. It plays ok but only in stereo.

Is there some setting on the server needed to import a MP4 or MKV format in order to play?

Is there a setting via the hd300 to play in other than stereo?

I'm not familiar yet with handbrake , is it possible the conversions weren't done properly ?

I've attached mediainfo files if needed

appreciate any assistance

Hi,
I use handbrake to transcode a lot of BR ripped to MKV format into mp4 for playback on HD300/HD200. Some with original DTS sound, some with AC3. I am not an expert, but I can share what works for me as a possible starting point for you to troubleshoot:

Attached is my preset for handbrake that works with HD300/HD200 extenders. You can see if that works first, then start changing settings to get to your ideal output. The ".txt" suffix will need to be removed to import preset into handbrake. I tend to recode DTS to AC3, and passthrough AC3 as-is. I also do not downmix any audio, as I only watch with 5.1 sound playback.

There are probably better-looking/sounding or more efficient settings, but these have been reliable with sagetv and extenders for me.

Hope this gets you started, Good Luck!
