SageTV guide disappeared. Can anyone help out here? We missing our Thanksgiving shows

I know it Thanksgiving so I am not really expecting anyone reading this post today however if your reading this and know how to help us fix this then that will be great!!!

Here the problem, we started up our HD300 today and then went directly to the channel guide and we get blank guide! Only thing we are seeing is the time frame which was moved down quarter of the screen from the top.

Attach to this post is the photo taken from our SageTV

Anyone know how to fix this so we can get our TV back?

Bill

I think I know why all the guide disappeared. It seem both of my capture cards are not loading anymore.

Going to try reinstalling the drivers

We got TV again!

Somehow the Colossus capture card both of them went off line and refuse to start when we restart the server.

So we reinstalled the drivers and still no go next thing we did was completely powered down the server and reseated both Colossus cards and it started up again both cards.

Guide came back up and TV working again.

Seems like this happens a few times a year for me as well. The Colossus goes haywire and just disappears from Sage, and the only way I know it has happened is when I notice it has missed some recordings, then I check the guide and see none of the Directv channels appear.

I keep meaning to implement some kind of alert on this so I get an email or text message when the number of tuners changes. Seems like I should be able to do this with SJQ4 but every time I dive in the complexity of that plugin makes me tear my hair out. Anyone have a suggestion for this kind of thing -- simple monitor of number of tuners?

Are you not rebooting pc or restarting the SageTV gui/service on a regular basis already? I have to restart the service daily just to get my recordings to be watchable - and then I still only get about 80% good. After a few days/weeks I wouldn't be able to watch anything they record and would have to reboot PC anyway. That's why I record shows multiple times on my Colossus. If I couldn't tell the difference between HDMI on the Colossus and component on my HD-PVRs I would switch back and use the PCIe slot for another Duet tuner.

I reboot daily. I'm also virtualized on esxi with PCI passthrough on the Colossus. For the most part it works great. I just hate the completely silent failure when the Colossus goes fubar a couple times a year.

Sometimes it fails but still exists as a tuner, in which case I get SageAlert failed recordings alerts by email and text message. When it just drops off the tuner list, the channels disappear from the guide and I hear nothing and don't notice it until I observe the guide is only listing my OTA channels and recordings are not being produced. That's why I'm thinking it would be nice to just have something run every 5 minutes, enumerate the tuners, and send an email if the quantity is other than the expected normal value.

I see. Sounds like a good idea. I just wish Hauppauge could release a driver that worked better so that reboots/service restarts were not necessary.

I don't think it the drivers, I think it how SageTV handles memory when using colossus cards. We have tried to get SageTV developers to look into it but they keep thinking it the drivers then they get brought out by Google so we are stuck what we have at present time which is to do a nightly reboots.
