250 wont fit in PCI slot

Hi,

I now have my two 250, however, the PCI connector wont plug into the PCI slot on the moby.

The card should have a cut out about 1" in, but it doesnt.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Out with the Dremmel to get it to fit

s.

What kind of case/mb is it. PCI slots are the same for all systems. Unless it is a low profile case, then you need to buy the low profile version of the card.

sorry, i dont follow. (do now, read ur reply before the edit )

I have just been onto Dells site, and this is what they say about the slots:

2 slots on separate PCI buses, either
2 x64-bit/ 133MHz PCI-X slots
or
1 x 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X and 1 x 64-bit/ 33MHz PCI 5V

I think that I have the first option.

thats a 1U rackmount case, you need the low profile card, or chop it. You could try the USB PVR-250

The card fits, size wise, just not PCI connector wise.

What do you mean by chop it please?

All of the Hauppauge cards are missing this front slot:

http://registration.hauppauge.com/webstore/hardware.asp

My Pinnacle DV500 does have it:

Confused!

I see what your problem is, those are PCI-X slots not PCI slots.

Dies at least one of the cards fit.

Poo.
So why does my 5 year old DV500 have them?

To much to hope that PCI-X would be backwardly compatible.

Nope, doesnt fit into either socket

the part that plus in.
There should be a cut in the pci connector, near the end where the metal plate is.

You can see it on the second link in my post about, for the DV 500 card.

Thats ok, the PVR just doesn't use those pins, it should still plug into the slot. I misunderstood you, I thought it didn't physically fit
This pc is hooked up to my TV, it hard to read the text.

ok, if I move the card back (so that the end metal bracket is INSIDE the Pc, rather than flush with the outer case as it normally is), it fits.

However, this means that the card is inside the case, here, I have upload a picture of it:
http://www.edgley.co.uk/p250.jpg

I can not get the second card to fit owing to internal components.
This gets wierder!!

After 20 attempts, no, my camera wont auto focus right.

However, I have found the slot on google images:
http://www.applistar.com/dinigroup/p...xt_top_big.jpg

Its that small gap at the top that is the problem.
I can mount the card in the second slot down, it also has a little bit that goes into the the third gap (the bottom one).
