Problems getting DCT working
I have installed a ceton pci 4. Load DCT and configured it the way the screen shots show at: http://babgvant.com/files/folders/sa...ntry20796.aspx
I copied the assignments over to the sage properties file. I made sure the firewall is on since I'm running win7 64 bit. Also running latest version of sagetv. I can set the 4 tuners and I applied a lineup, but when I record a channel, sage goes into a spinning circle and take a min to come back. Also, I get failure messages when trying to record in the messages window. Is there a more descriptive procedure to get DCT working in Sage than that's at the link I provide above? thanks for any help

SageDCT has a test tab. I found that helpful in configuring it. You can generate files and check to see that they are viewable. For example, I never could get the VLC option working and it was testing SageDCT stand-alone that proved it to me. Once you figure out how to get it working by itself, you should be able to reboot and get SageTV to see the tuners and use them.

I cannot figure out how to use that Test tab. Not sure what to choose for the command choice.
But I see these failures in the DCT log. Any thoughts? Running a test with SageDCT
On the Test tab, here are the commands you need to know (they are in the dropdown box):
START - starts the recording. STOP - stops the recording. The encoder selects which tuner you want to use. Channel -is where you set what cable TV channel you want to try to record. File - is where you set the location of the file recording. To start a recording, 1. Choose an encoder 2. Set the command to START 3. Set the Cable TV channel number to whatever you want. 4. Set the file location, or accept the default. You probably want to have Windows Explorer up and visible to the directory where the recording is going. In Windows Explorer, you may need to use F5 to refresh Windows Explorer, so you can see the file size increment, or not (if it is not working) 5. Click the Send button to start the recording. 6. Set the command to STOP, and click Send again to stop the recording. How long you want to record is your choice, within disk space limits. Most of my test recordings are 30 seconds long. To run a test, you do not need the Save or Close buttons at the bottom. I use VLC to view the recordings. I find that if VLC can render the recordings, so can SageTV.

when ever I try your steps, DCT goes into a non responding mode. Kind of like what sage does.
bummer, I've spent so much time on this. thanks for the help.

Make sure to open the ports in the windows firewall advanced settings.
This did the trick for me. |
