FIOS STB QIP 7100 Standby Firmware update

I am not sure when Verizon updated the STBs with a firmware to include an automatic standby mode, but just noticed that at the end of this past week, my QIP 7100 stbs were shutting down.

This setting can be disabled in the menu, settings, stb. It gives five options - Never, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, and 4 hours. By default, it is set to 4 hours. I set it to never.

Hope this helps anyone experiencing this issue.

Awesome

This is why I love this forum. Twice in 2 days I recorded "Please press Menu to turn on your set top box." Came on here to post and lo and behold, problem and solution already posted! Thanks!

Just happened to me in Tampa Florida on Wednesday night - missed five shows until i saw the standby setting had been changed to 4 hours. They shouldn't be able to modify your box firmware without some notification.

I was convinced with my old QIP 6100's, there was a firmware update to do this. One box would turn off, one would stay on most of the time and randomly shut down. I could not get Verizon to send me a new box until its dumb app said, "you have two boxes out date, can we send you a new ones?"

At least this time, I found the setting.
