No thumbnails in imported 1080p mp4 file?
Hi....
Been converting all my movies to 1080p 5.1 mp4 files. Sage can easily get the data like title, year, etc out of the file, but only shows a black box as the thumbnail. I know there are thumbnails embedded because iTunes, Windows 7, etc all see and show them just fine. Any ideas how to fix this? |

Sage does not use the 'embedded thumbnail' in these files. It uses ffmpeg (SageTVTranscoder) to pick a frame a few seconds into the file, and stores it in the GeneratedThumbnails folder.
In fact, I think this is similar to how Windows 7 does it as well, it doesn't use anything embedded in the file, but instead uses directshow to decode out a single frame a few seconds in, and stores that in the hidden thumbs.db file in the folder in question.

That's unfortunate. Windows 7 does use the embedded thumbnail, if it exists. If it doesn't exist, then it will get a frame on its own.
Well, I'm gonna go out on a VERY large limb and considering we haven't heard anything from Sage/Google in like two years I'm going to guess this won't be fixed :-) |

Most of us simply don't USE thumbnails in our views, and haven't for quite a while before google bought sage. Fanart, in my opinion, is a lot more useful, and pleasing.
