Pause on hour with Live TV....

As seen by others in this old thread: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53071

and in the past, while I watch Live TV (only) Sage pauses/freezes on the hour and half hour. This used to happen but was "fixed" in SageTV 7 some time ago. Now it's happening again. Any suggestions for me?

I have the newest version of SageTV. No extenders, etc.
Windows 7
Newest version of Hauppauge 2250 drivers (2 cards).

I have tried setting:

seeker/fast_mux_switch=false
videoframe/fast_file_switching=false

to no avail.

I had a QAM issue a while back (fixed now) and upgraded the Hauppauge drivers then. Perhaps I should try rolling back to an earlier version? Anyone else have this issue?

Thank you

Does setting it to NOT "Always Tune Channel" help or do you already have that off?

Thanks for the reply PiX64 and Bob!

I'm at work right now but will check that as soon as I get home, then post back after testing.

I have not changed that for a long time (if ever), but perhaps updating to the newest version of Sage a couple of months back reset it?

I'll let you know.

Rats. Was set to YES. I set to NO to no avail.

Any other ideas?

It's interesting that it freezes on the exact hour (or half), and unfreezes in exactly 20sec.....every time.

So always tune channel should be set to No meaning that if you are watching a show on channel 7 and it is a half hour 30 minutes, at 31 minutes or when the next show starts sage will NOT tune the tuner again back to the same channel...

Is that what u have setup now? Always tune channel -> No. ??

Just chiming in....

I have the same problem. I get a pause every half hour or on the hour if we are watching live TV. I don't know how long it's been happening. We don't pay that much attention and don't watch that much live TV so it's not a huge problem. I've only noticed this on SD channels using the Hauppauge analog tuners.

I just checked and if I go into settings on my HD200 and go to Detailed> Customization>Always tune channel it is set to No. I looked in the Sage.Properties file on the server and found the line "mmc/always_tune_channel=false". I also found "always_autotune=true"

I wonder if these should both be "false" (NO)

Thanks for chiming in dgeezer.

What are you using for a capture device? I think I recall reading that the pause will still happen if you are using a network encoder. And, I believe that SageDCT + a cable card tuner (HDHR PRime, Ceton, etc.) appear to Sage as a network encoder.

I have two Hauppauge 2250's, as I stated above. Great cards for the most part.

Thanks for chiming in!

I just tried to verify that this is a recurring problem for me. I tried watching live tv during both a half hour and on the hour switch from one show to another. This pause occurs when using my analogue tuner Hauppauge 1800 or my HDHomeRun. As far as I can tell this only occurs while watching live TV. I made a copy of my sagetv_0.txt Log file that covers the period but I don't really know what I'm looking at.

I think I found the point where the playback pauses:

The other odd thing, I see this pause about a second or two before the first show ends, however the logs would indicate that it is just after the new show begins. My server runs headless and when I was logged in (Teamviewer) I looked at the clock and it is running about 3 seconds faster then my desktop running windows 8. Both are set to synchronize time with the microsoft time server...

I have this same problem. ...and have tried many settings to fix it.... I just have accepted it as normal.

I'd love to hear about a fix.

Are you recording to a network drive by chance? not UNC path on same server, but a remote network drive such as on a NAS?

If you already answered that I apologize, I haven't read through the entire thread.

I am recording to a unc path on the same pc. I can't remember right now why, but I think that it makes one of my plugins work.
