Pause at change of hour
I'm talking about the lag in audio and video at the top of each hour when watching a show. I read the really long thread with the poll about the topic, but it said it was fixed in V7. It still happens for me. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks for any advice/

What capture device(s) are you using? I know the seamless transition doesn't work for some of them (the R5000 network encoder for instance).

Just checked, and it's already set to true. But thanks for the tip. It wouldn't be so bad, but unless it's just me, shows never end on the hour. They always go a bit over.

If it was supposed to be fixed in 7, should I report it as a bug?

I seem to recall that when they added this "seamless playback" feature in the early betas of version 7, there were some posts that listed specific known cases where it would not work. For example, I think they said it would not work with Placeshifter. Also, I think it may have required you to use the Sage MPEG Demuxer (so if you overrode the defaults by installing your own custom DLL files, it might have broken something). You might want to search the Release notes from the version 7 beta releases...
But, if you don't think any of that applies to you and no one else posts back with a good suggestion for things to try, by all means file a support / bug request with Sage. If you do figure something what's causing your troubles, be sure to post back and share your results so others can learn.

I hardly ever watch Live TV but last night I notice the same thing with my system - same encoder card as well. Picture 'froze' on my HD300 at the top of the hour. Took some time to recover and then it was playing the start of the show again (buffered!?) but there was only a few minutes of it. Weird - I thought it was a fluke but seeing this thread maybe not - I will have to test it some and see ...
Now I will never really know what happened to Kris Kringle and the Winter Warlock - ha!

Mine doesn't skip back to the beginning of the show, just a stutter in video and audio.
I'm not using Placeshifter, and didn't customize anything. I think mine is about as simple as you can get, just a computer and one TV. I'll give it a little more time, and if nobody has any suggestions I'll report it. Hate to bug the devs! Thanks for the advice. |

I am having a problem at the hour/half hour time when watching live tv using my HVR-2250 - Sage freezes the video and it takes a few minutes to 'recover' and start again with live tv.
It throws a system message with a Warning - halt detected in recording - the device input "Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Capture #2 S-Video_2" stopped producing data .... This happened at 10:01 and 10:31 while watching live tv. I tried the next hour/half hour changes on my HD-PVR's and there is not even the slightest of glitch on those 'tuners'! I will try my PVR-250 and see what it does with it's direct analog cable input and report back. UPDATE: I am working with Sage Support on this issue and I have received a trial DLL and sent back a sample MPEG file. Hopefully this issue will get fixed. I will post results when I have them.

I worked with the amazing support department at SageTV and they developed a fix for this problem of mine.
I was told I could post the link to the replacement file: http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/7.0.23/MPEG2Dump.ax Download and place the same file in the COMMON folder of SageTV. (After shutting down SageTV & making a backup copy of the existing file). After I did this my "loss of signal" and video freeze of several minutes in between LiveTV show changes disappeared. Thanks to Sage Support!

could someone send me this MPEG2dump.ax?
Hi All,
I can no longer link to the MPEG2dump.ax that was posted above, could someone send this file to me? I seem to be having the same symptoms as described, this would be greatly appreciated, right now I'm trying different solutions to the issue. Thanks Nick |

I've had this problem for over a year - apparently it's wider spread than I was lead to believe by Sage honchos

If you look at that link it was put out there as a fix for 7.0.23. I'm pretty sure the subsequent beta releases either already have that or a newer version.

Thanks I agree, I did a search for a new Beta and I see that there is one out I will try installing that, and I also noticed that I'm getting another error about EPG no longer being available on the server, I saw someone said that may be the cause,
Very strange indeed. Thanks for the reply. |
