Problems playing videos

Hello,
I am trying to play videos that are in the .mp4 format but I am having the following error: "sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-3,0x80070057): There was a problem accessing the filesystem for playback"

This happens on my HD300, my client PC and my SageTV server. I can play the file in Windows Media Player however. I tried to convert it to a .avi file, but I have the same issue.

Any ideas on how to make this work? I thought I would be able to play these files via SageTV.

Thanks,
Chuck

I'm just guessing here, but if I were you I'd check out the paths... are you using mapped drives or UNC paths?

Dargason,
Thanks for the reply.

I think it is using UNC paths to a server I have all my ripped DVD and Blu-Rays on. The server path is \\ArbogastServer\DVDs\, etc.

All of my ripped BluRays and DVD's still play fine using these paths. However the .mp4 video files do not.

Again, any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Chuck

So SageTV can access and play your ripped DVDs but not the mp4 files?

In that case, you might try a different A/V decoder. Again, I'm not an expert on this stuff, but if it can access and play other files in the same directory and the only difference is the format, it might be related to the decoder setup.

That is correct.

I am having the same issue with my HD300 extenders as well, so I don't think it would be the A/V decoder since I can't change that on the HD300. Well, I don't think I can.

Thanks for the help,
Chuck

Hmm... I forgot about the HD300 part.

My last grasp at a straw would be that maybe the file internal format doesn't match the extension, or something like that. It could be that WMP is smarter and uses the internal format, while the others crap out if they don't match. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

Dargason,
Thanks for your help. There must have been something that corrupted the files when I copied them over to the server. I deleted all of the files from the server and then copied one back over and for some reason it played this time. So, now I will copy the remainder over one at a time and make sure they all play before I move on to the next one.

Thanks again for your help,
Chuck
