I think my HD300 is broken. The only thing I can do is plug in the power cable with the back button pressed and go to the Reset Screen. I can do a Factory Reset, Reload Firmware or Reset Configuration. But it does not fix my problem:
When I power on my HD300 I no longer get the option to connect to my computer. It goes to the Standalone mode, but my screen is black with occasional flashes of the Standalone menu. If I am quick I can navigate to some of the options, but only for a second as the screen goes black again. It looks like a electrical problem. I tried to contact technical support, but they never responded to me. Do you think it is all over for my HD300? And time to ride off into the sunset? ![]() |

John, that sounds somewhat similar to the activity of an extender when it has no connection to your network, hence no way to see the server.
Is it possible there is an issue with the network cable? Have you made any changes to your home network (router) recently, like mac address filtering perhaps? Is the IP address of the extender fixed in some way that may be conflicting with another device on the network? Have you tried plugging in another device, like a laptop, using the same network cable to verify connectivity? Do you get the same results when you unplug the network cable completely? |

I think my HD300 is connected to my network
I have this program called Network Magic that monitors my network. It shows that my HD300 is connected: IP address 192.168.1.96 and is online.
My server connection was working with my HD300, but my standalone was not. So I decided to do a Factor Reset, hoping my Standalone mode would begin working. That is when I lost everything. |

Check your video cable(s). Are you using HDMI or Component? Verify the cable(s) are good using another device hooked to the same input on your TV just to make sure that isn't the issue rather than your HD300.
Also if you are using SPDIF make sure that is connected properly. I had a weird experience with my HDPVR and the SPDIF from my STB. I had to move my HDPVR and accidentally plugged the SPDIF cable into the OUT instead of the IN and the HDPVR acted VERY strange. Nothing showed up onscreen and it would not record.

I believe the output cable is ok
The fact that I can go to the Service Menu and it shows up perfect on my TV screen and I can do a factory reset and all the messages are crystal clear suggests to me that my HDMI output to the TV is working fine. This is the only output cable I use,

John, aside from deleting that HD300's extender config from the server, I'm out of idears here I'm afraid. Keep an open mind, though. The strange ideas that folks post with regard to "dead" extenders are based on past experiences, and have aided in a few [thankful] resurrections.

Any word? Just curious I have similar albeit different results. I just get the sage splash screen.

I fixed it
It has been six months since I finally fixed it. I just kept working with the black logon screen which would flash the startup menu every once in a while. I figured out where the Setup icon was and hovered over it, and when the startup screen flashed by I quickly punched the Setup icon until I scored - then I was able to drill down and get the program to start up in computer mode. Since then no problem.

I have an hd300 that does that too. It's dead. There was nothing I could do to get it back working. No device restore, it just wouldnt get past the splash
