Fox sues Dish over Hopper's PlaceShifting capabilities
Here's the story on The Verge. It looks like the essence of the suit is not that PlaceShifting is illegal, it is that Dish's contract with Fox does not allow them to redistribute Fox's channels over the internet:
Quote:
|
Dish "shall not retransmit or otherwise distribute FOX's signal by means of the internet, broadband or any other online technology or wireless or cellular technology (such as cell phones, tablets, or PDAs)."

Does Google Fiber (aka SageTV8) have PlaceShifting capabilities? If so I wonder if Google has a similar contract with Fox, assuming that Fox's channels are on Google Fiber's TV service.
