Documentation for custom transcode profiles in sage.properties?

Hello,

I have found a few references on the forum to creating custom transcode profiles in sage.properties but haven't been able to find any documentation on how to do this. Is there a reference somewhere?

(What I am trying to do is transcode files into the smallest possible size that can playback on a Playstation 3 when streamed over UPnp... which should be H.264 high profile MP4 as opposed to the MKV container which is natively in Sage)

Regards,

Joe

do some searches for a free app called Handbrake. most people seem to have good results with it.

I believe the settings are basically ffmpeg command line options.

Thanks to both for replies. I see they do look like ffmpeg command line options. I will try a few different choices and see if I can make something work.

Interestingly, I tried a handbrake encode already using the latest handbrake release and it created a file that was not playable even with vlc. I think there are too many dropped frames in the ota atsc capture and handbrake is choking on it. The only encode I have gotten to work so far is sage's native mkv encoding, but that won't play on the ps3 without something to remux it...

that's too bad ... the nice thing about handbrake is that it's the only app I have that retains TWO audio streams after encoding, including the original AC3 5.1 audio, which is a must for my recoding. I used the internal Sage converter for a while, utilizing the built-in iPad, widescreen setting. It worked okay, but the video seemed soft, and as mentioned, audio was two-channel.
