Question Squeezeslave with HDMI support?

I was wondering whether someone is interested on having the Squeezeslave software being able to play music through the extender's HDMI interface along with the existing S/PDIF and Analogue outputs.

The reason I ask is because the job is quite complex and it will be nice to get an idea of the general interest before starting the development, so if you're an existing happy Squeezeslave user or a potential new one please let me know what you think by voting to this poll.

Many thanks
Eddy

I already have mine hooked up with an optical cable for SqueezeSlave, so there really isn't much benefit for me. If you do it and I move one of the boxes it would make it slighter easier (simpler), but I honestly don't think it would be worth your time.

Thanks again for a great plugin.

To me a SageTV extender make sense connected to the HDMI port only, all mine are, but of course for the Squeezeslave I have to switch the AVR input which could be a pain for someone (sometimes is for me), in particular if you have a new AVR which doesn't have the "old" optical or Analogue inputs any more.

There was a potential user in the forum that was really surprised by the lack of the HDMI audio output support and I just don't want letting down people preventing them from using this software for the lack of this feature, still is a big task and before any commitment I just want to quantify how many people will really benefit from it.

I would be happy for audio via HDMI as I only have one extender connected via a receiver. All the others are direct to the TV, would save me purchasing more amplified speakers!!!!!!

I have 6 extenders that I will now be buying this plugin for

Thanks for your hard work on this great plugin

Andy

WOW, that could be the biggest donation to the charity in one go, well done!

I'm glad you did like the player, may I ask which version you tested (Plugin or Standalone)? And by using which controller (Web/Remote/App)?

Thanks
Eddy

Update...

The Squeezeslave HDMI support implementation on the HD200 is going better than anticipated and therefore soon I'll move to the HD300 one.

Regarding the HD100, as nobody is apparently interested on, is likely to be skipped.

Hi Eddy,

Sorry for the late reply.
I have tested the plugin version. and used the web remote and android remote without issues.

I am also looking to control it via control4 when I get round to creating a driver for squeeze!

Thanks for your hard work. I will purchase over the weekend.

Andy

Hi Andy,

I understand that the HDMI option is vital for you therefore you might want to wait until the release is out

The HDMI works on the HD200 with a normal TV, but I haven't tested with an AVR, also the HD300 version is not available as I haven't started to work on it as yet. I've been very busy recently with another project, but don't worry I'll get there, I just need to find a more contiguous time. Sometimes I wish a day could have more hours

Update...

I'm very pleased to announce that I finally managed to crack this on the HD300 and is now working properly

Please expect a new release with the HDMI output support on the HD200 and HD300 after my usual test cycle is completed...

Thanks
Eddy

Poll closed

The requested feature has been implemented on the HD200 & HD300 only and the release 2.3.0 is available to install from the plugin repository already.

The poll is now officially closed.

Many thanks
Eddy
