Multiple USB-UIRT How To

I am sorry in advance for starting a new thread on such an old topic but I am new to SageTV and would like to make the leap and purchase it. I am however having a problem find the correct documentation on how to setup support for multiple USB-UIRTs. I have two that I am trying to get to work and I did find a copy of the uu_irsage.dll and copied that into place but I am not sure how to modify the ir files correctly and SageTV is not recognizing either of my uirts after using the uurename tool to rename them. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to whether or not there is an existing thread that has somewhat of a detailed explanation for a newbie like myself on how to set this up?

Thanks in advance and regards

This thread is a good place to start (see the section on the USB-UIRT);

The next thread is more specific, but is older and not sure if still applicable;

Just checking, you are aware that each USB-UIRT can control up to three STBs, right?

@Keith - Yes I am aware but I am also new to using a usb-uirt. Up until this point I had originally had 2 colossus cards in seperate computers and began this journey with tryiing to consolidate them into one since Hauppauge still refuses to do anything to support to of their blasters in a single computer. In essence, am not sure what I am doing with these things yet which is why I am

@KryptoNyte - Thanks for the links! I will check them out ASAP.

I think what he was trying to say is that you shouldn't need to use more than one USB-UIRT unless you have 4 or more STB's you are trying to control. Therefore no need for the uurename tool or the added complication. All you then need to do is add a Z1, Z2, or Z3 prefix to the codes in the .ir file to emit it out the correct LED.

There may also be other options for tuning channels, depending on your STB. I have used firewire for many years and it is, IMHO, more dependable than IR.

But you have to have a cable box with an active firewire port and you have to be running a 32 bit OS, at least when it comes to Windows. This causes me to use a USB-UIRT to control an SD cable box without a firewire port, and to stick with the 32 bit version of Win7.

Some newer boxes, particularly satellite boxes, can have the channel changed via TCP/IP. And some older boxes can be tuned via a serial interface.
