Crossing my fingers, maybe this will be the version where all of the functionality built in to the device actually works...

Good news we get Optical Audio AC3 In recording & HDMI AC3 recording and pass-through support.

Out of curiosity, does the amount of time it takes to lock the signal and start recording take about the same, more or less? I noticed colossus was slower to start than hdpvr so i'm curious about hdpvr 2

I remember i had to modify sage to force a delay when using colossus but not for hdpvr. Anyone else able to comment on record delay?

Oh that, That had to do with native resolution switch which both device didn't do very well at which why you had set a fix resolution even after longer recording delay start that where HD-PVR 2 dose way better you can used native resolution without any problem, how ever you still want min 6 to 8 mssec delay before recording that allow set-top box to fully switch native resolution

Does the HD-PVR 2 only support HDMI? Is there component?
I ask, because I imagine a lot of cable boxes use HDCP with HDMI connections.

Uses a supplied 'breakout' cable (see attached picture).

Try of I am unclear here, would this work with our Sage config? Presumably just configuring as a regular HD PVR?
Might be a good way for me to add another cable box. |

Has there been any more word on the "plus" version? I've been searching for articles on it but haven't found much.

No idea on the cost But as I said before the main is diff in two Optical Audio IN and the IR Blaster and do believe the record light will be Blue in stead of Green and it some likely come with WinTV 7 and maybe even the A/V Cable Set for S-Video, Composite video and Stereo audio. |

Haven't HD-PVRs always had optical audio in? I'm using two first gen HD-PVRs with component for video and optical for audio.

Hauppauge HD-PVR and Hauppauge HD-PVR: Gaming Edition Main Chipset is a Ambarella A2 Platform. Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 and HD-PVR 2: Gaming Edition Main Chipset is a Magnum DXTPro Encoder/Transcoder. Now if Hauppauge had use Ambarella A4 or A6 Platform in the Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 then you could call it a 2nd generation HD-PVR Like look at all PVR/HVR Model USB PVR: 1st generation iCompression iTVC12 = Conexant CX23412 USB PVR 2: 2nd and 3rd generation Conexant CX23415/16 PVR 150: 3rd generation Conexant CX23416 PVR 160: 3rd generation Conexant CX23416 PVR 250: 2nd and 3rd generation Conexant CX23415/16 PVR 350: 2nd generation Conexant CX23415 PVR 500: 3nd generation Conexant CX23416 HVR 1600: 5th generation Conexant CX23418 HVR 1800: 4th generation Conexant CX23417 Last edited by SHS; 01-10-2013 at 01:36 PM. |

SHS,
I didn't realize that two different chips were used in the different models. Are there any significant differences between the Ambarella A2 and the Magnum DXTPro? |

Did the first gen HD-PVR have an IR blaster as well?
I just looked up a photo on Newegg and it looks like it did though I never used it or paid attention to it (I use firewire to change channels). However, if I ever upgrade to a 64bit OS I will need to look into IR channel changing...
