problem setup multiple hdpvrs
Trying to setup 2 hdpvrs on a server. Cannot remember how to do this correctly....
If I plug one in at a time I can successfully setup each one. However, whenever I have both plugged in it and go to setup the second it only sees the first one - never allows me to add the second. It acts as if I am editing the first. How do I configure two? Thanks in advance. |

What OS are you using? Can you see both HD-PVRs in the Device Manager? Are you saying that if you run the Configuration Wizard to set up a new video source that only one HD-PVR shows up?

Correct - it was weird. Showed up in the Device Manager, but did not both show up under 'Add Video Source' (only one was listed)
I removed the existing video sources, rebooted and voila they now showed up and work perfectly. |

@sflamm: Sage, Windows, and the Hauppauge are a bit finicky together. I've gone so far as to always make sure I power them up in the same sequence, among other things. Sometimes, I feel like I'm one of those guys in the NFL commercials... "It's only weird if it doesn't work". I have this issue with my Colossus not showing up in Sage and haven't been able to figure it out. I'm planning to reinstall Windows and Sage in that VM and start from scratch once I get that "other" issue you're aware of squared away.

When I originally got the HD-PVR and wrote my "How to Guide", the best practice was to uninstall the SageTV software, install the HD-PVR in windows, and then reinstall SageTV. For some reason, Sage did a much better job of recognizing the hardware if it was not installed when the hardware was installed.
It could be that the SageTV service just needs to be stopped while installing the hardware, but uninstalling and re-installing Sage is simple enough and it ensured good results, so I never experimented with it much. It's been years since I wrote that, but I wouldn't be surprised if this still held true today.

Might be useful for folks to have a pointer to your guide... avoid problems in the future.
At the time I was hooking this up I wasnt running SageTV as a service yet - so that wasnt a problem. Now of course I am ** Edit ** Didnt notice the guide is in the signature above |
