Hauppage Remote and Win 8

A long time ago I received one of those WinTV PVR devices. I don't recall which model exactly, it might be the PVR 250. Anyhow, I just installed Win 8 64bit and I was wondering if anyone else managed to get this working for the IR Remote usage?

Right now, I see that I have a conflict with a multimedia devices, which I assume is the WinTV as I haven't been successful in loading any drivers. I'm not sure any of the drivers are compatible with a 64bit OS with more than 4GB of Ram.

If the answer is that this device is not going to be compatible, what other options do I have for a Harmony Remote that is set to emulate the Hauppage remote?

The remote on the pvr 250 card is incompatible with win 7 and win 8. I use the USBUIRT which is compatible with all remotes. You could also buy a cheaper alternative which is compatible with windows and comes with a remote but you may not be able to use it with your remote.

I used to use the WinTV card on Windows 7 but in 32 bit. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and go USBUIRT. It seems expensive for what it is but I guess there just aren't great alternatives if you want to use a universal remote and Windows 8 64bit.

There doesn't seem to be any 64 bit drivers for the pvr250. What I did was purchase some new hauppauge HVR1800 cards on ebay for about 25.00. They work great. They were specially made for a company so it doesn't have the composite input or fm tuner, but if you don't need those, that it is a cheap way out.

I'll have to check this out. I see an ebay listing for $15 with free shipping. It is the same type, no FM tuner or composite. On the other hand, I don't see any IR input either.

Yes $15.00 sounds right , but you are right . It doesn't have ir input. I was just saying that the pvr250 may not be compatible with win 8 64 bit but these tuners are cheap enough to replace the pvr 250.

Ok, no I only used the card for the IR input. I have the tuners covered through a couple of HDHR's.
