Question about Hauppage Remote

I only use the silver Hauppage remote to watch Sage. Within the program guide, how do I change the day of programming? I see where I could do it with the mouse, but don't have the mouse available through the output of the PVR-350.

Thanks,

Dennis

Press the number buttons for the number of days you want to move forward/back & then press FF or REW.

Ex: 1 1 FF -- goes 11 days forward

If you press 1 1 OK, you go to channel 11 instead.

Sorry that I cannot answer your question specifically but I would suggest switching to Girder which I did based on the good advice I read on the forum. It's a little tricky at first but there is good help available here that got me up and running and it was well worth the minor hassle required to understand it.

With Girder you can assign any key to any of the Sage commands. But most importantly (to me) you don't have to worry about that active window nonsense any more. This seemingly simple thing has made my Sage box MUCH more useable.

peace. . .

You can assign any button to any command with the Hauppauge remote too. You can even use a new remote & program it to be able to control _all_ SageTV commands, like I did.

Now, there you have me with the ability to send a command to SageTV w/o it having Windows focus... I'm still working with Hauppauge to find a way to do that. [Edit: In the meantime, I simply have a unique remote code set as the PowerOn for SageTV that will activate it so that it has focus.]

Girder does have more functionality, but you have to pay for it now. (I know there is an older free version still downloadable.)

Oh.. and there are links to good info for configuring or changing your Hauppauge remote in this FAQ entry, for anyone interested.

Sooooooo how'd you guys get to be so smart?

Ugh yea I had forgotten about that nasty little $20 bit. I am still within my 30 days but I think it's going to be worth it.

This is straying off topic sort of but do you know if you can extend the remote sensor that plugs into the pvr-250/350?

At issue is that this cable is too short for me. So I am wondering if the sensor is a proprietary thing and can be replaced or can the cable be extended with a longer cable. I have searched around for this, its hard to believe that the 4 ft cable is meeting everyone's needs but I have not been able to find anything on it.

Hey, I'm not taking credit for figuring out all that stuff for extending the Hauppauge remote & receiver.... I just wrote up the docs I posted.

Oh -- and I hope no one takes my previous response as a Hauppauge IR vs. Girder 'war'... they both have their uses & I don't really care which anyone chooses. I just like to point out the options.

It looks to me like it is the same connector as on my cell phone headset -- what is that, 2.5mm stereo? I've seen the question of finding an extension cord for that asked around here before, but don't remember the answer. I would either do a search or wait to see if someone else mentions the solution...

I sure hope no one does. Usually when someone points out I'm wrong or didn't know about something it means a problem has just been solved for me. And as the soon to be incarcerated Martha Stewart would say, 'that's a good thing'.

Thanks for taking a stab at the remote cable extension. 2mm stereo is already more than I knew before. I've been searching but I guess I'm not hitting the right terms. I should ask in freys and shs's hardware forums.

La de da. Basically I am just killing time waiting for that new release.
