User Categories not getting assigned to recordings

User Categories don't appear to be working right for me. I can assign a User Category to recording manually without any issue. However, a recording that was made by a Favorite that has an assigned User Category is not inheriting that Favorite's assigned User Category.

Any ideas of what I could be doing wrong?

That works fine in the default STV is that what you are using?

It never worked for me either (default STV). I ended up writing a script that tags the recordings after they start based on the tag of the favourite used to record.

Yes, I'm using the default STV for troubleshooting this. I initially thought this was a Gemstone issue, and then I thought it might be an issue with Sage itself....but now I think I have a better understanding of what's going on.

There appears to be two kinds of User Category 'tags' (not sure if that's the right word).

The first is a "User Category/Recording" tag which is set on each recording individually.

The second is a "User Category/Favorite" tag which is set on a Favorite and gets passed to recordings that are made by the Favorite. But it does NOT assign a "UserCategory/Recording" to the recordings.


So I guess it's working as it's supposed to for me...just not the way I want.

That is how it works. A favorite assigned with a User Category does not also assign it to the recordings done by that favorite. But it is referenced in a UserCategory metadata lookup, so in practice, the recordings will show up. One of the benefits of doing it this way, is you can retroactively add/change a usercategory to a favorite, and all current recordings that match that favorite will reflect the change. I use UserCategories as my exclusive method of grouping recordings, and it has worked perfectly since they were first released.

The only time it should be a problem is if for some reason, something is happening to the metadata for the recordings that are changing them enough that they are no longer recognized as matching that favorite.
