Angry Comcast Analogue signal being phased out :(

Hi,
well I have just been reading on Broadbandreports.com that Comcast in some areas has already started blocking the analogue channels forcing users to rent additional boxes for any extra tvs. Surely this move will kill Sage? Paying $6.05 per box for 4 boxes PLUS UIRT for each box and then getting it all to work just kills Sage on cost alone. I currently have 4 PVR 250 encoders and so with 4 boxes this would cost me an extra $27.80 before any other taxes. Comcast doesn't even have a decent competing dvr solution, from what I have read, their dvr box is very basic and clunky.
THIS SUCKS
Patrick

Dunno what the location of the sat is in america, but in england, if we dont have line of sight, we break out the chainsaw, or mount the dish on a pole on the roof in order to clear buildings.

Now _there's_ an excuse to cut down my neighbor's tree.

Also, I know this doesn't really help much, but the USB-UIRTs can have 3 separate outputs now, so 1 can control 3 STBs.

Well I live in a Condo and so I cannot cut any trees. I am still able to use the analogue channels but it seems Comcast may be about to try and wring that extra dime out of it's customers.

In my area when I go with Dish or DirectTV I would still get charged $5 per month, per box after the first one anyway. Is there another way to do it?

As I understood it
this happened to my friend
analog through out the house except the living room which had digital
comcast said they were not going offer HBO, SHOWTIME and other movie channels except on Digital cable
the boxes were the first two are free and an a nice upgrade from the POS in the living room and the additional where 5 dollars a piece

not too bad to get digital through out the whole house for an extra ten dollars
It may have been 6.05 but he just said the first two were free then an extra 5 for the next

does not seem bad when with my DirecTV service it is 10 a box after the first and some kind of fee

thats why analog cable for locals when it is free (thats how they did it)
normally 13 for analog cable which is locals plus a 4 channels (sweet)
then if you get the direcTV service you get the analog cable for free

but not giving them another 6 dollars a month for digital locals when I get ripped for my second box(thats second box)
and two rate changes in one year (my first year)
had the service for about 2 years

DirecTV and Dish are now at $5/box. Might want to 'have a chat' with them about it

On that note...

Its always the same. They are doing this in the effort to drive up cost and demand. Since they cannot drive up their base cost without the risk of losing you to dish, they will get you on board and then slowly nickel and dime you with extras (that you will soon have no choice but to buy).

Soon you will see an increase of piracy, followed by their weak attempt of thwarting it. Lastly you will see price breaks by competitors. You will switch, and they will do the same thing to you

have fun!

I.
