Dish r5000 still a viable option under Sage 7

I have two dish VIP211 r5000 boxes collecting dust at the moment, and am considering putting them back into service to get rid of cable and hdpvr. For anyone still using these, are there any issues with all of the changes that have occurred since STV6?

Also, I may eventually want to pick up a third dish box and use the hdpvr with it. Any reason the r5000 can't work with hdpvr in the same box?

My R5000 worked with Sage 7 same as Sage 6, though for me it was slightly flaky, not sure if it was the OS (I was running XP) or what. I actually don't use it anymore since I switched to cable. I might even be willing to part with it, if I go back to satellite it will likely be with a provider DVR.

Just an update for the benefit of anyone searching for r5000 info. i had forgotten how well my system ran with two dish vip211 r5000's. I had dumped them when dish killed the HD only package a few years ago and switched to an hdpvr with a time warner cable box. That setup has been okay considering other experiences I've read about, perhaps once a month i would get the red alert thing, and it was always one of three things:

HDPVR needs to be power cycled (which usually required a server restart, not a biggie but a PITA)

usbuirt completely vanished- rarer, but big PITA because hdpvr doesn't know that the channel didn't change, so the only way i would find out is when the kids would tell me their shows didn't record right (or worse, the wife.... shudder... heaven forbid pretty little liars isn't there when it's treadmill time). This always required extra work to wake it up, usually multiple reboots

Cable box shuts off- easy push-the-button fix, but still annoying

point is, i have none of this now, and everything in general seems to run more smoothly. lag between UI screens is gone, my underpowered client plays live HD smoothly, and i have yet to see any alerts. I am paying $10-$15 more due to losing TW's internet bundle package (no complaints on TW internet, great around here) and had to give up a channel or two, but I am spending more time on the couch and less in the dungeon downstairs. very happy again.

p.s. i thought dish required some kind of timer to keep the box on because its supposed to power cycle at like 3am, but so far no issues. maybe whatever i did on the boxes two years ago is still there
