That explains it. Hope it works out for you. I'm planning on the generalized image being done later today if I have time.

I got it last night, and as far as I know, sharing it. I'm not that much of a torrent person, so may have something set wrong. Does uTorrent need any changes from the default to share???

Have to open a port in your firewall/router to seed or it won't work.

As long as utorrent is running, you should be sharing. If you look at the list of torrent files, the a3700 line should have a number under the "Up Speed" column -- if it's great than zero, you're sharing

uTorrent will use NAT-PMP to automatically open up a port on supported routers. If not, you can set it up yourself.

I had to set it up on my POS motorola router/modem. That thing is so horrible.

Both are compatible with the ehome driver and work well with eventghost. Do you know of any other than the ones I mentioned?
Not too many companies went with an RF solution when making their Media Center licensed remotes/receivers. Personally I can't stand RF remotes in general. Too much interference and inability to integrate with the rest of a system. That said, I do like RF support on universal type remotes for use with their own accessories, such as system controllers, etc. I'm using products from URC and send RF commands from a handheld remote to a master controller which contains macros to operate all the components in my system - via IR, RS232 and relay.

Again, the RF method is proprietary, so the receiver would be MCE/WMC only with regards to its interface to Windows. Either at the firmware or additional driver layer. With an appropriate driver and software to support creating custom commands (like Event Ghost, Girder, etc.) you should be able to use any RF product even if they're not WMC/MCE. I'm pretty sure there are still some gyration-like products on the market.

Incidentally, I'm grabbing the WIn7 image right now and it's coming down rather briskly at 1MB/s with only 6 of 11 seeds connected plus 3 peers. I suppose I have to download the Acronis software to open/restore the image?

Yeah, I'd prefer a high powered IR remote to an RF remote any day. I love my MX500 remote. With fresh batteries, I can use it around corners...

ETA on that generic version? Just asking, not demanding!

Ugh, I don't know how anyone can stand a IR remote. Pointing the thing, why would you need to point it???? And why would you even need to be in the same room??? (Had a RF remote back in the "big" dish days, covered the whole house and then some!!!)

OK, have the following on the "info" tab after a reset:

Seeds: 0 of 9
Peers: 0 of 3
D: 0.2kB/S T: 3.5 MB
U: 0.5kB/S T: 106.4 MB

Does that look like it's working? (I didn't get it all the way down until late last night)

Yeah, just let it run. The more servers available, the faster the entire swarm gets.

Downloaded it with no problems. Restored the image to the hard drive and everything seems to be working. Thanks so much. If you don't have a seagate, wd or maxtor you can download the trial, burn a boot disk and use it as many times as you want to restore or backup.

I just downloaded the image, and wanted to say thanks. This stuff takes alot of time, and you didn't have to squeeze this in. It is appreaciated though, and I intend to order one up next week to play around with over Thanksgiving.

Thanks again, it was real nice of you.

Much appreciated. The main reason was that I see so many people have so many problems setting up their clients I figured this would be something that could help ease people's minds when it comes to client setup.

The general image will be used more just for the fact that it will esentially be the same, but without the drivers and machine ID specific to the a3700 so anyone can use it with any video chip and have codec compatibility with what I've installed.

Yep, a fantastic idea. It will keep Sage going for alot of people if/when there extenders die. That pc design fi made fanless with S3 standby, can be a direct replacement for an extender as well. Possibilities are endless, almost.

No problem, have that problem myself! Like I said, just asking, not demanding.

Is there anything we can do for you, for doing this for all of us?????

Use it and tell me if it works. I just like to help make things easier for people. People all seem so against clients because of their setup difficulty, so I decided to help make it simple. I've used clients for going on 5 years and have run into every problem you could possibly have. I have mine running rock stable so I hope to help others get to the same place.

I just noticed you didn't say which Windows 7 64bit (Home, Pro, or Premium) you used, or do you have it set to "select"?

I'm using Pro for all my stuff, as I want remote desktop, and the "Local Group Policy Editor" which home doesn't have.
