Editing Metadata menuing problem?
Hello!
First off, not sure if this is a BMT issue or BMT with Gemstone issue? Here is the problem... Selecting TV->Recordings->All Recordings From here, selecting say "Covert Affairs" takes me to the "Recordings of Covert Affairs" menu where I can see all the episodes. Now, selecting a single recording I get the pop up with all the options like "Watch Now", "Record Options" etc. and because of a plugin I have an option "Manage Metadata". If I select this option I see several options include "View / Edit Fan Art for this Item". When I select this I go through "Thumbnails", "Banners", "Backgrounds", and "Posters". Selecting any of these you can go to the right screen and cycle through the various pics for each. However, for the "Posters" option, you can see the image cycling and rotating BUT the image never changes and the text on the top and the bottom gets overwritten with the previous text. I've include a picture for you to see. Again, not sure if this is a Gemstone thing or BMT thing. If BMT thing, please feel free to move it. I don't recall ever seeing this before but not sure I ever tried it before either Thanks! Also, none of the settings seem to "stick" but I believe that is an identified issue to be fixed later with some Gemstone settings not being able to be set from the Server computer. I did try this on my HD300 but I don't even have this menu option (???) so can't tell if it would work from the HD300 or not. |

Firstly... likely a CMT issue or compatibility issue between CMT and Gemstone (not BMT).
Secondly... you should try using the Flows in Gemstone for TV views and NOT the old Recordings views. Although these older views are still there in Gemstone we do not plan to spend much time getting them working or enhanced as the solution now in Gemstone for Movies AND TV are the Flows. There are other posts describing using Flows for TV so take a browse... try it out and feel free to ask questions. k |

Also there is a "Fanart Manager" item in the menu now that handles seasons for assigning fanart.
I have used CMT with Gemstone (since it was Diamond even) and never seen this issue. What other plugins do you have installed? That almost looks like video/rendering issue. Try restarting your client as well. PS - I just tested CMT on two clients and both work normally without the overwriting text like your screen shot. Last edited by jorton; 10-24-2012 at 02:29 PM. |

Thanks! Yeah... I have so many different plugins installed I'm not all that familiar with the exact differences... that that was a BMT thing. LOL Thanks for clarifying that. I'll see if I can find out some additional info on that as well as trying the flows.
It is hard to me to try the flows though because I don't use my HD300 hardly ever and use my Sage server computer for actually watching TV. I tinkered with the flows and could only ever have ONE at a time. I read elsewhere that this was due to it being the server and would be fixed sometime coming up in the near future. Am I correct in thinking that it doesn't pay for me to mess around too much with the flows on my server computer until this issue gets resolved? Thanks! |

CMT should be fine, you likely have something else going on.
The fanart manager is a Gemstone thing that adds some features for series/season fanart. There is an issue with creating more than one flow on a server that will be fixed in the next release. The workaround is to create the flows on your client or extender and then import to the client instance on the server. |

Thanks, Jorton, and DAMN, I just tried out the Fanart Manager you mentioned. That does exactly what I was trying to do with CMT (change one of my posters away from a Russian poster LOL).
But, there does seem to be some compatibility issues. When in the Fanart Manager it was indicating a background that was selected as "default" but it was NOT the one I was seeing. I had to, within the Fanart Manager, select a different one and then select the one that Fanart Manager said was the default again and then it took. Also, the fan art I had in one case wasn't listed in the Fanart Manager? Hmm? LOL Anyway, is there any reason to keep CMT as a plugin if using Gemstone? Should I disable or uninstall it to prevent the two from fighting each other? Thanks! |

The differences in fanart may have been the season vs series fanart. You have to have the right option at the top selected.
CMT is still worth using if you need to manually edit metadata and don't want to load up the BMT web UI every time. Although BMT/Phoenix have been scraping pretty well for me lately so I don't have to manually intervene as often. |

I had pretty good luck with everything just working in the background for the last couple years or so. Never got into too much manual editing... I just left it as is so to speak. Having said that, when I switched to Gemstone it seemed like many more shows were getting good fan art data so it seems like all my fan art is actually better now.
Either way, it is way cool and thanks to you guys Since no real issues seem to happen and I know how to make the Fanart Manager select what I want, I'll just leave it as is with all the plugins installed. Thanks! |
