Picked up a 3 on ebay @ $245/$289/$289 (shipping included). Still looking for just 1 more at this point. That would make 9 extenders in the house but I think I'm going to need to beef up the server a bit since it's on 32 bit. We typically don't watch more than 4 extenders at any given time but that will be the next project to rebuild the server side box. 64bit OS, more RAM and setup a Raid 0 stripe set for faster reads and writes... don't care if I lose the data on the drives, that is what my NAS is for. Server does short term storage (recordings) and the NAS does long term storage (movies, music, pics, etc...).
Please send me an email if you have an HD300 for sale wikel@hotmail.com but I'm paying $250-275 for it w/shipping since the prices have started to fall off on ebay. Thanks! |

$262 shipped is what I paid for my HD300. - I'd probably buy another one for the same price, but likely only in the new year. I'm still thinking of going $500 into a PC-based client - I think you need to spend at least that much to get something fast enough for great quality decode and usability.
The biggest issue you may run into running multiple extenders is Java heap space. I know this is the marketplace forum, so if you want to post a thread in the general forum, I'd love to hear about your results running 5 or 6 concurrent extenders.

Best option for more than about 5 extenders is to split some to primary, and some to secondary duty. Running on two different servers, pointing to the same files. You won't be able to control main sage function, and won't be able to control livetv from the secondary extenders, but you can still watch anything from them.
