HD300 and HDMI over Cat5/6 Extenders
I was using an HD200 with an HDMI over CAT6 extender - worked flawlessly for the past year and a half. One of my friends recently switched from SageTV to MCE and give me his HD300s.
I can't seem to get the HD300 to work over the CAT5/6 HDMI extender. Two things seem to happen. (1) I get sparkles on the TV and video/audio dropouts. (2) If I drop the max resolution to 1080i, the dropouts stop BUT I get networking failures. The HD300 is unable to retrieve an IP over DHCP. I am guessing the power being taken by the HDMI extender is causing a failures inside the HD300. So questions. (1) Has anyone used an HDMI over CAT6 extender successfully with the HD300? If so, what brand? (2) Any recommendations for powered HDMI boosters that seem to work with the HD300?

When the HD300 came out, many noticed that the HDMI driver on it was a bit weaker than the HD200/100 were. TV sets that had weak/failing inputs might have worked with the 200, but then didn't with the 300. I'm not surprised a passive balun setup won't work well with the hd300 (keep in mind, the idea of the HD300's small size is to allow it to be hidden behind a tv, so at most you'd be looking at like 18-24 inches of cable).
Just about any HDMI amp should straighten it out, though honestly, I'd think about using that cat5 run you've got to just move the HD300. It'd be a lot cheaper.

For anyone else who runs into this problem, I was able to fix this with buy purchasing an HDMI voltage inserter.
